You are about to hand over a lot of money to someone you have never met. Before you do, we plug a diagnostic scanner into the car at the seller’s address and send you what it finds.
What the scan reads
Fault codes
Stored and pending codes from the engine, gearbox, ABS and airbag systems, where the car supports it.
Readiness monitors
Whether the car’s self-tests have completed. Incomplete monitors can mean the fault memory was cleared recently, by the seller or by a disconnected battery.
Freeze-frame data
The snapshot the engine computer saves at the moment a fault was logged.
Your report
The scanner’s report, sent by email or WhatsApp after the scan, with every code written out in plain language.
How it works
-
Send us the car
Make, model, year and where it is standing. A WhatsApp message is enough.
-
We plug in at the car
At the seller’s address or yours, in Johannesburg, with the owner’s permission. It usually takes under an hour.
-
You get the report
Straight after the scan, by email or WhatsApp. You pay the R320 launch price once you have it, plus a travel fee of R10 a km beyond 10 km from us. We confirm the total on WhatsApp before you book.
Why scan before you buy
Faults the seller may not mention
Stored codes stay in the car’s memory after a warning light goes out. The scan lists them.
A recently cleared memory
Clearing codes before a viewing turns the lights off, but it also resets the readiness monitors. The scan shows which ones have not completed.
We also recommend a vehicle history check alongside it. It is the only way to find out whether a car is still under finance, was written off, or is flagged as stolen.
What a scan is not
A scan is not a mechanical inspection. We do not assess the body, paint, rust, tyres, brakes or suspension, we do not road-test the car, and we do not tell you whether to buy it.
A fault code points to a system, not to a confirmed failed part, and a car can have problems that never log a code. If you are serious about a car, have a qualified mechanic look at it as well.
We only read. We never clear codes or change settings on a car.
We do not sell cars, we do not do repairs, and we take no commission from any workshop.
Launching November 2026. Message us to book a date.
